Architecture consisted of multiple Amazon EC2 instances that were open to the internet. It also had a PostgreSQL Amazon RDS database that was sized incorrectly and open to the internet
Code Collaborators created an AWS VPC and migrated all Amazon RDS instances and Amazon EC2 Instances to it. We also tightened the security groups to ensure only necessary ips were let into the instances. We implemented an Application Load Balancer, and Amazon Web Application Firewall in front of the servers.
This implementation resulted in a more secure environment for their customers and the application increasing in speed.
